With a focus on Europe, Asia and South West Africa, we have celebrated for over three decades the uniqueness of nature, and the originality of wine & cuisine prepared on open log fires with passion and authenticity. Travelling always in small groups to unusual, sparsely populated places, far from standard tourism and well off the beaten track. In our “Culinary Wine & Fishing Camps” we combine our passion for fishing and nature with authentic culinary “outdoor cooking” in breathtaking natural landscapes – combined with great wines from around the world and the finest handcrafted gins. Our focus is on sport fishing and the game-orientated hunting of fish with respect for nature and for the creature itself. We focus and indulge in the premier class of sport fishing: Fly-fishing, but we also take great care in our classic fishing methods; spin-fishing, fishing for predatory and coarse fish, shore fishing, deep sea fishing as well as trolling in sea and fresh waters. Beginners have the opportunity to connect with fly- and spin-fishing at all our camps. All camps can also be booked on individual dates for closed groups, or as an “Executive Business Adventure” for your company with individual planning and arrangements.
Roland Birr, die Seele von “The Fifth Quarter’s Culinary Fishing” ist seit seiner Kindheit Mitte der 70er Jahre leidenschaftlicher Sport-fischer und Naturliebhaber. Sein naturverbundenes, berufliches Engagement hat ihn weltweit in die unterschiedlichsten Kulturen und damit auch Landschaften & Fischgründe geführt. Seine Sport-fischerprüfung legte er bereits Ende der 70er Jahre ab. „Wein-machen & kulinarischen Weinhandel” hat er seit den 80ern „von der Pike auf“ erlernt und studiert. Seinen Respekt vor der Natur und die Liebe zum Umgang mit deren Produkten verbindet der internationale Oenologe und „wine & food edutainer“ mit einzig-artiger Leidenschaft in seinen “Culinary Fishing” Konzepten, die er authentisch und nachhaltig in atemberaubender Natur inszeniert.
