wine & fishing camp Mosel

… a short trip in harmony with nature

Participation in our Wine & Fishing Camps means a complete escape from everyday life. A short trip, in harmony with nature providing sensual enjoyment of fauna & flora. Together we stage the authentic and respectful preparation of caught fish around open campfire. Matured meat cuts from local cattle and locally hunted game also come on the fire.

The trip is accompanied by the worldfamous Rieslings and wine specialties from Weingut S.A. Prüm, one of the pioneers and flagships of German white wine culture. The winery is now run by the passionate Oenologist Saskia Andrea Prüm, the great-granddaughter of the founder Sebastian Alois Prüm. Her father, Raimund Prüm (the big Red Prüm) led the traditional estate to the top German Riesling producers with a worldwide reputation for excellence for over 45 years. Our “Hedonistic” seafood table offers an opulent intermezzo between the fishing sessions in the middle of the picturesque vineyards directly at the world-famous Wehlener Sundial, high above the Mosel. The sundial was built in 1842 by the Prüm family and is still privately owned. The culinary cross-vintage-vertical evening tasting in the cellar of the winery in Wehlen provides a deep insight into wine making.

The Culinary Fishing Camp begins on the first day with your own arrival by 12:00 p.m. and ends on the third day at 3:00 p.m. on your departure. These times usually apply from Friday to Sunday. Individual group appointments can also be arranged during the week.

Weatherproof clothing is advised, as we will be outdoors in all weathers. Anglers need a federal fishing license.

Fishing sessions will take place day and night on the river near Wehlen between the wine villages and streams in Zeltingen and Wintrich, as well as in a brook route of the Lieser in a side valley of the Mosel. Here you can fish with fly or spinner. We recommend waders for fly fishermen.

The winery with mansion and guest house is located directly on the banks of the Mosel, so fishing spots are within walking distance. This is particularly interesting for passionate night anglers, fishing for eel and the legendary Mosel Pikeperch.

For non-fishing wine and nature lovers, we offer guided hikes and Segway tours through the vineyards and forests of the picturesque Mosel Valley during the fishing sessions. Non-anglers can participate in the basic fly fishing and spinning workshops.

Spend the night comfortably with breakfast in the guest house of the Prüm winery. Depending on the date of the your visit and booked individual arrangements, other cozy, comfortable family-run hotels and guest houses are available in the area. For transport from and to hotel / fishing spots / winery / vineyards there is a separate bus on stand by at all times.

These trips are accompanied and staged by the internationally known “wine & food edutainer” and certified sport fisherman Roland Birr (oenologist).
